Our Process

The KNL Process is confidential, focused on your career goals, and absolutely free to you. At all times, the decision to pursue an opportunity is yours, not ours.

1. Confidential interview with us.

We’ll interview you to reveal your unique strengths and weaknesses and identify where you have made a true difference. We’ll also discuss your short and long-term career plans and add you to our confidential candidate database.

2. Ongoing criteria and goal clarification.

Should you decide you want to pursue a position change now or in the future, we’ll clarify exactly what you want and need. Our knowledge of the market allows us to dig deeper than most other executive recruiters and many of our hospital clients. We inquire about the challenges you have overcome, your management and leadership style, personality, salary expectations and other key information often difficult to express in an interview. Remember, our goal is to find the right position for you.

3. Identify, qualify, and screen potential opportunities.

We have agreements with client hospitals all across the nation and every one of our opportunities involves a position in women’s, maternal/child, neonatal, or perinatal health. Many of these opportunities are not advertised. We’ll identify the right opportunities for you and, together, we’ll determine if salary, qualifications, and other expectations are a good match. The decision to pursue an opportunity is yours—not ours.

4. Confidentially determine interest in you.

Without revealing your name or any confidential information about you, we’ll promote your skills, qualifications, and accomplishments directly to the decision-makers. With our relationships, you will often skip the HR screening process. With local candidates, we can take special steps to ensure your confidentiality. Meanwhile, we will re-verify the salary range and job challenges to make certain that your time isn’t wasted.

5. Determine mutual interest for moving forward.

Once both you and the potential employer commit to having a sincere mutual interest in proceeding, we will forward your resume and arrange for you to have a telephone interview with one of the key decision makers. We’ll also assist you before the interview to increase your comfort level.

6. Provide valuable feedback.

Let us know how the interview went from your perspective. If you are enthused about the position, we can make sure the potential employer knows it. We can also provide you with valuable feedback from the person you interviewed with, so you are prepared to overcome any potential objections.

7. Arrange on-site interviews.

We’ll arrange any on-site interviews on your behalf and assist you in presenting yourself in the most positive light.

8. Contact your references.

With your permission, we’ll contact your references at the appropriate time in the process. Most employers require satisfactory references as a contingency to offer of employment. We make sure references from your current employer are not contacted until after an acceptable offer has been made. We do everything possible to keep your search confidential.

9. Negotiate employment offers.

We’ll work with you in negotiating a fair package in keeping with current market conditions. You avoid the uncomfortable position of trying to negotiate directly with your new co-workers.

10. Assist with your resignation.

Resigning is never fun. We’ll help you make this process smooth and professional.

But it doesn’t end there. We’ll follow up and assist as needed to make sure your transition goes smoothly and you are pleased with your new position. We have a lifetime commitment to you and your happiness, and will always be there with you as your needs and goals change.

I have worked with Key Nurse Leaders for 13 years. This organization has such a commitment to helping coach you through your professional life and, at times, personal life. Unlike some “recruiting” agencies, that only want to fill a vacancy, this organization helps to guide you in the right direction should you be interested in a new opportunity. They also understand how organizations differ in their culture, location, and political climate. This insight is critical to making a candidate successful and finding the “Key Leader” position for yourself or your organization. They have perfected the matchmaking business for nurse leaders!
